What is EORI

EORI is a necessary registration number for all individuals/enterprises with economic activities in EU countries, especially for import and export businesses. Regardless of whether there is a VAT number, if the seller wants to import goods into the UK in the name of the importer, and then refund the import tax (only for merchants with a VAT number), they must submit this EORI number to the customs.

What does EORI mean?

EORI is the abbreviation of Economic Operator Registration and Identifi-cation in English. This number is a necessary registration number for all economic activities in EU countries, especially for individuals/enterprises with import and export business.

Regardless of whether there is a VAT number, if the seller wants to import goods into the UK in the name of the importer, and then apply for an import tax (IMPROT VAT) refund (only for merchants with a VAT number), this EORI number must be submitted to the customs.

EORI composition and applicable countries

Composition: EORI is a system of the whole European Union. Therefore, when the customs of each country grants the registration number, the country code is first added, followed by the company’s NIF (NIF is the VAT tax number). For example, Spain is ES, EORI NO. = ES+NIF number.

EORI applicable countries:

All countries in the European Union require an EORI number to clear customs.

Reminder: Now no matter which cross-border platform you use, you must use your own EROI for customs clearance when you ship to EU countries.
